A Day of Healthy Eating in New Orleans

Hey there, fellow food enthusiasts! Join me on a culinary journey through the vibrant streets of New Orleans, where I’ll be your guide to a day of healthy dining in this bustling city.

As someone who loves exploring new flavors and discovering hidden gems, I’m excited to share some of my favorite spots with you.

1. Sneaky Pickle: A Playful Twist on Healthy Eating

Our first stop is Sneaky Pickle, a charming neighborhood spot known for its playful yet nutritious and affordable dishes.

Whether you’re a meat lover, a vegetarian, or a vegan, this place has something for everyone. I recommend trying their gnocchi with walnuts and blue cheese, paired with a refreshing cocktail.

It’s a delightful combination of flavors and textures that will leave you wanting more.

2. Bywater American Bistro: Rustic Elegance with Italian Flair

Next up, we’ll head to Bywater American Bistro, or BABs for short, a culinary gem helmed by the talented Chef Nina Compton.

The cool basil burrata was a perfect start to the meal, followed by the goat bolognese, which was rich and flavorful. The shrimp fra diavolo was another highlight, with just the right amount of spice.

And of course, I couldn’t resist ending the meal with the brown butter biscotti, which was simply divine.

3. Saint John: A Modern Take on Creole Classics

For our midday meal, we’ll visit Saint John in the French Quarter, where Chef Eric Cook’s modern take on Creole cuisine never fails to impress.

The oysters Saint John were a delicious start to the meal, followed by the gumbo, which was bursting with flavor.

And if you’re lucky enough to visit on a day when they have the whole fish special, be sure to order it; it’s a true culinary delight.

4. Emeril’s: Fine Dining with a Southern Twist

As the day turns to evening, we’ll make our way to Emeril’s, Chef Emeril Lagasse’s flagship restaurant.

The barbecue shrimp, one of Chef Lagasse’s signature dishes, was a highlight of the meal, as was the banana cream pie.

The warm, welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant made the experience even more memorable, and I left feeling grateful for the opportunity to dine at such a renowned establishment.

5. Herbsaint: A Culinary Gem Along the St. Charles Streetcar Line

To end our day on a high note, we’ll visit Herbsaint, a restaurant that holds a special place in my heart.

The French, Italian, and Creole-inspired menu is a testament to the city’s rich culinary heritage, and every dish is a celebration of flavor and tradition.

The gumbo, chicken fricassee, and duck confit are all must-tries, and the romantic outdoor seating along the St. Charles streetcar line adds to the charm of the experience.

Exploring the vibrant food scene of New Orleans is a culinary adventure like no other.

From cozy neighborhood spots to elegant fine dining establishments, the city offers a plethora of healthy dining options that cater to every taste.
